On International Women’s Day we celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It’s also a day to raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and fundraise for female-focused charities.
International Women’s Day is especially important to us at J.Jill. Led by Claire Spofford, CEO, we’re a brand made up of approximately 90% women, and it’s our mission as a company to inspire and empower women every day. We see everything we do through this lens—from the clothing we design to the charities we support through our J.Jill Compassion Fund, we focus on putting women first.
The Iron Lady, Notorious RBG, simply Malala and of course, Madam Vice President. When we look at some of the most inspiring women in modern politics and political activism, the list is strong and getting stronger (and longer) every day. Just this past January, we saw Kamala Harris, the first (and not to be the last) woman sworn in as the vice president of the United States.
We continue to witness the selflessness and compassion of our frontline healthcare workers and teachers (both career groups are overwhelmingly female) doing everything they can to take care of us and our children as we all try to stay safe during the pandemic.
And let’s not forget the moms—this group of extraordinary women deserves to be celebrated year-round! They never stop doing it all—from the home office to home classrooms, our moms are the women who always encourage us to be better, all while keeping it all together.
